Sirti carried out the first cable long-distance connection with vocal frequency between Milan, Turin and Genoa.

During the 1920s and 1930s, Sirti installed many long-distance cables all over Italy, connecting the North with the Centre and the South, laying the groundwork of our domestic telecommunications system.

After the Second World War, Sirti took part to a large extent in rebuilding the domestic telecommunications network, which had been damaged during the war.

During the post-war period Italy experienced an economic development and social transformations and Sirti play a leading role in the most advanced technological innovation offered to the community.
During the 1950s and 1960s Sirti built the new coaxial cables and radio links network, crucial infrastructures for a country bent on modernization.

The introduction of optical fibers and electronic equipment ratified the telecommunications revolution.  The groundwork was laid for voice, data and image integration for a community which was going to become a global village. Also at this stage Sirti contribution to the country's technological development was decisive and the Company commitment, experience and expertise are proven by the projects and infrastructures carried out, which form the nervous system of the country.

Experience gained on the Italian market was the premise for expanding its operating horizons.
Over the years, Sirti achieved remarkable successes and recognitions from abroad.  It carried out great accomplishments in the Middle Eastern countries and expanded through a network of subsidiaries in Europe and the Latin American countries.

 At the start of the new millennium, many events deeply affected the development of telecommunications:  mobile telephony success, the services market and telecommunications infrastructures liberalization and the demand for broadband and Internet services. During these years, Sirti continued to play a leading role in supporting the development of incumbent operators networks and their new competitors.

 At that time Sirti became also a prominent leader in transport sector joining the Consorzio Saturno,  responsible for the turn-key realization of all the electronic, electrical and telecommunications  systems along the high-speed railway lines that will have to be built in Italy.

Today the convergence between fixed and mobile telecommunications, and between telecommunications, IT and media offers to operators and their partners a number of new challenges, which have their culmination in the implementation of new generation networks.
